This year’s wet processed offering from Gesha Village is a beautiful lot that highlights a disease-resistant variety acquired from the Jimma Agricultural Research Center that the team at Gesha Village Estates refers to as the “Illubabor Forest” variety.
As with all of our favorite wet processed lots from previous Gesha Village harvests, this 2020 Illubabor Forest selection is immaculately clean and presents a profound flavor complexity in a beautifully subtle and elegant way. Notes of wafer cookie, delicate florals, and citrus, on the nose introduce a cup offering a pleasing balance of brown sugar sweetness, soft lemon acidity, and refreshing flavors of strawberry and honeydew melon.
The majority of Passenger’s selections from past Gesha Village harvests have been of the heirloom variety that Rachel and Adam refer to as “Gesha 1931”. This year, we were incredibly impressed by a wet processed lot featuring the JARC selected variety which they designate as “Illubabor Forest”.
