View Cart

A perennial shrub native to western South America, Aloysia citrodora, also known as Lemon Verbena, was brought to Europe by the Spanish in the 17th century.

The organic compound Citral is found in relatively high concentration in the Lemon Verbena plant. Not surprisingly Citral is also found in a number of other plants with similar aromatic character such as lemongrass, lemon myrtle, lemon balm, oranges, limes, and (of course) lemons!
